TISD Board members are elected for three-year terms on a rotating basis.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the TISD Board are scheduled for the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Administration Building, 700 North Catherine Street, Terrell. Exceptions: January 20, 2009 and March 24, 2009 August 18, 2008 September 15, 2008 October 20, 2008 November 17, 2008 December 15, 2008 January 20, 2009* February 16, 2009 March 24, 2009* April 20, 2009 May 18, 2009 June 15, 2009 July 20, 2009 * Exception to 3rd Monday night of the month

Special meetings are held at the Board President's discretion or on request of two or more Board members with 72-hours notice required.

Emergency meetings are scheduled when the Board President or two or more members determine an emergency or urgent public necessity exists with two-hours notification required.

The official agenda is posted at the Administration Building no later than 72 hours prior to the meeting. The agenda is sent to all campuses, the Terrell Tribune, KYPK, City of Terrell, Chamber of Commerce and the presidents of teacher organizations operating within the school district. In accordance with Texas Open Meetings Act, no item can be placed on the agenda less than 72 hours prior to the meeting except in an emergency.

Public Comments at TISD School Board Meetings Public comments are welcome at Terrell ISD Board of Trustees Open Session meetings. At regular meetings, the Board allots thirty minutes for public comment. Each speaker will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to speak. Persons with a common message may delegate a spokesperson to speak for their group. Speakers will be recognized in the order their requests are received. Forms to request to speak before the Board are available at the TISD Board Room immediately prior to scheduled meetings. Board Policy BED (Local)

Bad Weather Closing Policy
The district may close schools for a full day or part of a day because of bad weather or emergency conditions. Check the district web site or listen to radio stations KPYK, WBAP, KGVL or tune in to television channels 4, 5, 8, or 11 for official announcements. more info

Student Safety is a priority—-TISD SAFE hotline 972-563-SAFE (7233)
The hotline is for students, parents, and/or any community members who are concerned about a safety issue for TISD students. The number is monitored daily.

Free Child ID Kits As Terrell ISD continues to help protect our school children, several agencies including Texas Association of School Administrators, the FBI’s National Child Identification Program, and the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas have joined efforts with the Office of Governor Rick Perry through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to provide ID kits to all Texas school children, grades K-6. more info
